Well, I can still remember to this day my Mom telling me to always keep my paws crossed and one day I will go home with a really nice person. Every day at the kennel I crossed my paws hoping and waiting for the big surprise. Each day someone came for one of my brothers. Still I crossed my paws. The following week other people came for my sisters and still, although lonely and fearful, I crossed my paws. Then the day came. Hurray! He was a nice man. His name was Troy and he lived in Anacortes; he took me home and I have been in Never-Never Land ever since. We still live in Anacortes and I have a fenced yard with lots of friends with whom to play. My bestest friends are Sydney and Bruno. Bruno can be a real pain sometimes, but I just chalk it up to ignorance.....he doesn't care about the ball or the frisbee. I know those things are important and I fetch them almost every time. I even dream of fetching....unless I am dreaming of swimming. But usually I am not swimming unless I am fetching, so fetching and eating Outback leftovers are my favorite things to do. Anyway, I will be 3 years old (really 21) in July and have tried to talk Troy into letting me have a Boddingtons Cream Ale, but he says no ID, no alcohol and then shows me the commercials that say the same thing. I cannot argue. I weigh 95lbs, can sit, shake, lie down, stay, rollover, catch thirty MPH tennis balls, and even flip a treat from my nose into my mouth without a flinch. Lastly, I just recently graduated from dirty dish cleaning school, where I received top honors for licking the entire spaghetti sauce pan in 10 seconds with a total of 13 licks. Take care and come by to visit if you want to fetch sometime.

Here is a picture of Ivy Heart. She is the wonderful cat we adopted from the Thrift Store in Mount Vernon in February 2001. We love her very much and we are so glad she came to be a part of our family. She rules our house and holds the title "Queen Ivy". She is pictured with her favorite toy "Snakey Bird". She is an inside cat and spends her days sleeping and watching Bird TV out the back window.
Thank you for keeping her safe until she found us,
Mandy, Sue and Mallory

Dear Friends,
On April 17, 2001 we adopted a Chihuahua from the shelter that was approximately six months old. We were told he didn't like kids and was a little cranky at times. That was an understatement to say the least. He bit both of us several different times but we thought if he found we would do him no harm he would change. We never raised our voices to him or made any threatening moves toward him. My wife has a bad back and sits on the couch with a heating pad which "Mikey" decided he owned. Anyway, we had to buy him one. We added a porch on to our motorhome and he couldn't see out so we added a "Mikey Window." We are sending some pictures of the most lovable and most loved little dog in the world. I hope the people that had him before us NEVER have another animal. Thank you very much and you can rest assured he will always have a good home and plenty of food.

Hello Staff:
Thanks for helping us hook up with "Ruby". She's the little Cockerpoo, stray, no back hair, and a cutie pie! We call her "Ruby" because she likes it. She's dominated our other pets as naturally as she's captured our hearts. We all love her (maybe a bit more than the other dog and cat though). She's got her own bed on the floor at the foot of our bed. She's got fluffy, squeaky toys and has already buried five marrow bones in the organic garden.
We'll be taking her to a holistic vet soon--after she's settled in here a bit more. I think she has allergies (I do too) so I can relate. She's in good hands here. My husband loves her. She wears a new sweater and she gets two walks a day and eats her vitamins.
Luck dog,
lucky people,
"Ruby" & Family

Dear Humane Society of Skagit Valley,
Just wanted you to know that the little kitty we adopted in September 2001 is very well loved and just such a sweet and wonderful addition to our family. We named her "Splash" because she is a Tabby with splashes of Calico; quite a beautiful kitten. We also adopted a kitten from S.P.O.T. on the same day and they have become wonderful sisters. When we adopted Splash, she was sick with an URI and unspayed. I believe the lady who assisted me was Janine and she was great. Because I live on Orcas Island, she facilitated the adoption that day. I nursed Splash back to health, keeping her quarantined and on antibiotics. When she was well, I got her spayed locally. It all worked out so well. Thank you again for all that you do for the animals. We really appreciate it!

Hi everyone there at the Skagit Humane Society.
I just want to thank you for finding me a good home. I am so happy here with my new family. It's already been a year and settling in nicely. I have plenty of room to play outside, made a lot of new friends with some neighbor dogs and even a pony who lives next door. My owners, Chuck and Donna and their son Andrew, really love me a lot. They brag me up all over the place to their friends. They spoil me too. It's great being the only pet in the house. Doesn't seem possible that a year has passed since my adoption in March of 2001. I'm now wishing for a sister to play with. Maybe they will adopt another dog there that looks like me. Then we can really get ourselves into trouble. I know mom would love that. Just kidding. Oh and I love taking rides in the car when mom and dad go into town. Whenever they go to the bank I get a doggie bone to eat. Bye for now
