Hey there! I just wanted to thank you so much for letting us have wonderful Joxer (formerly Rodney). He has fit in perfectly with our family and has made himself right at home (even the kitties like him!) He has been a perfect gentleman since he came to us, is slowly learning how to play and is getting used to riding in the truck with his sister, Wilma.

Thank you so much,

Jeanine & Chris

Josie
The dog is "Luna" who I adopted from you in July of 2002 and the cat is "Josie" who I adopted in April. Both animals are doing well and are well cared for and loved. You can put them on your success page for other people to see what lovely animals you have and how much joy and love they give back to the ones who adopt them. Also, your web page is where I saw them fist so that's really a good way to get the word out. I still go there once a week though having adopted two cats from you and the puppy, I think I am done though I do refer people to you and my neighbor down the road adopted a dog.

Thank you, Elaine, Eastsound

I would like to share with you, and others who think of adopting a pet from you, the story of our miracle pet. I am enclosing a picture of our pet dog, Micah.

We adopted Micah from you in January, 1998. He had stitches in his right eye. We were told that a large dog had bitten him and punctured his eyeball. The surgery was to save his eyeball. His sight was gone. He had no undercoat. He was underweight. From his actions, and our veterinary's examination of him, it was obvious he had been severely mistreated. With love and patience he has overcome most of his fears of people. Some of the abuse he had received has caused physical and emotional damage that will be with him for the rest of his life. But for all of the time, love, patience, and money we showered on him, he has repaid beyond measure.

Now we come to the miracle he performs. I am a brittle diabetic with several other health problems that affect the diabetes. About a year ago I had a virus that caused my diabetes to be out of control. My blood sugar dropped so low and so fast that it caused me to have three mini strokes. This left me unable to tell sometimes if my blood sugar was going up or down. This put my life in danger. Somehow, our little Micah connected the odor from my breath to the strokes I had. Right away Micah decided what his new duties were going to be. He taught himself to sniff my breath and tell me my blood sugar was dropping and I was in danger. He checks my breath throughout the day and the night. He also insists on checking the breath of some of our personal friends when they come to our home. We have lost track of the times he has saved my life in the past year. One time he grabbed my nose and shook my head when I didn't pay attention to him. He was right! My blood sugar had dropped.

You never know when you might meet your own personal angel sitting in a cage at the Humane Society, like our angel, Micah, waiting for someone to open their hearts and their home and give them a chance.

Very truly yours, Fama and Deena, Camano Island

Elsie
Dear Humane Society,

Hi! My name is Elsie. You may remember me as Sonora, the black-and-white border collie/spaniel mix who was shacked up with Albert for a while. A wonderful family from Bellevue took me home in June, and now I have lots of comfortable beds to sleep on, long walks every day, and a family of squirrels to bark at in the yard. Plus, I get so many hugs and kisses it’s embarrassing. Best of all, my family takes me everywhere they go. I’ve even been romping in the surf at Cannon Beach! Thanks for looking after me. Here’s a picture of me playing soccer at the University of Washington Arboretum in Seattle.

Bye, Elsie

Dear Humane Society,
Thank you so much for the newest member of our family--Max. On 6-6-02 we adopted the big (86 lbs) Golden Retriever puppy (formerly known as Dartanian). He bonded with our family, particularly myself, within one day. He is kind and affectionate with our children. He is also playful and loves to retrieve his fuzzy toy. He also likes the water in his kid swimming pool and he thinks he is my husband's lap dog. He likes to go on family walks and running with me. At night he sleeps in the house and our cat, Buster, loves him; they sleep in our family room near each other. My baby's first word was "da-da" and his second word was "dog-dog"! Again, thank you. We love our big puppy, Max.
Sincerely,
The Rogers

ParkerThank you for letting us adopt Parker, he has become king of the house and is spoiled rotten. He is very loving and always wanting to be petted and loved . We feel very lucky to have met Parker and have him with us. My son loves him and Parker is always rubbing up against him which is great because most cats run away from 4 year-olds. When we adopted him 2 months ago he had been shaved and now his hair is just starting to grow out. He reminds everyone of a little lion. Thanks again,

Kayte
